What Is CBD Oil?
The word “cannabis” can conjure up a variety of images. Often referred to as marijuana, it can refer to dried buds or leaves that are dried in the sun before being smoked, or it can describe a substance that has an intoxicating effect. There are three types of cannabis – indica, sativa, and hybrid. Each type has its own unique set of properties. This article will discuss the effects of each type of cannabis.
CBD is another commonly used term in relation to cannabis. CBD is short for cannabidiol, a phytocannabinoid found in 1940 in Germany. It is one of only seventeen identified compounds in cannabis plants that makes up more than 40% of its primary extract. It has been scientifically proven to reduce certain pain related symptoms. Some of its possible benefits include: reducing nausea after chemotherapy treatment, reducing spasticity after surgery, and preventing certain types of seizures.
Terpenoids are another group of compounds found in cannabis. Terpenoids are plant-based oils that are commonly referred to as “bath salts”. They contain a large amount of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which has been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect and to help treat symptoms related to chronic bronchitis, insomnia, and depression. Some of these chemicals, such as THC and CBDA, are also believed to affect mood and anxiety.
Terpenoids are not absorbed through the skin, so they are not a risk to people who use cannabis for medical reasons. However, they do cause a change in the chemistry of the brain, causing a state called dysphoria or an altered state of consciousness. People who have used this product to report a feeling of paranoia or an altered state of consciousness. Some claim that this effect is similar to an episode of “being tripped out.”
Because there is so much debate about the benefits and side effects of CBD and terpenoids, many companies are now producing extracts that contain no CBD or terpenoids. In these products, a combination of different herbal ingredients is added to produce a high concentration of different substances, including the two mentioned above, without the potentially dangerous side effects of cannabis. In recent years, a number of companies have begun selling extracts that contain CBD and other components.
It is important to note that most products containing CBD and other compounds contain a number of other plant-based substances. When purchasing products that claim to be “pure CBD”, you should always look for a label listing the total amount of the active ingredient, including all other plant-based compounds and synthetic chemicals, as well as how much of the original compound has been removed.
